Posted above are a handful of concept designs that toy designer MAD submitted to kidrobot for a future Dunny release. In total, MAD submitted about 11 concept designs and even though all of them are great only one or two will actually make it into production. I really enjoy seeing the creative process that goes into completing a design project like this... And in this case, MAD put in alot of work!!! Thanks for sharing this with us MAD!!!
We introduce another new chapter in Michael Lau’s vinyl toy history. Here’s a first look at the early sculpting of The Godfather Original (marionette) version. As the first collectible figure being launched as part of MINDstyle’s new (ATC) art toy collectibles line, the style and approach is similar, yet unique to his Gardener figures.
In seldom released photographs, these early pre-production shots provide insights to the highly anticipated figure. With this being vinyl and an art toy, it actually provides for a more stylized approach.
The task presented by Paramount Licensing was to create an interpretation that would translate well as vinyl. Michael was given the freedom to create his vision with the approval of the estate for the iconic character. What many do not realize is Michael Lau is one of the very few artists that actually does all of his own sculpts, resins, paint masters, packaging designs and oversees his productions from start to finish. The 8 inch tall figure (over 12 inches with the marionette) is now in the later stages of development at the factory. Next week, we will share an inside look at the paint master done by Michael for the project and update with more product release information and The Godfather “Family Tradition” art exhibition curated by Ron English.

Bio: Frank Kozik was born near Madrid, Spain in 1962 and immigrated to United States, settling in Austin, Texas in the 70’s. Credited with single-handedly reviving the "lost" art of the concert poster, Kozik’s art career emerged from his connection to Austin's cultural explosion in the mid 80’s. Starting with band flyers that he posted on telephone poles, Kozik quickly garnered a solid fan-base who dug his graphically compelling and culturally relevant work.
To date, Kozik has designed over 1000 concert posters and album covers for artists as diverse as The Sex Pistols and Nirvana; founded Man’s Ruin Records; directed music videos for Soundgarden; staged over 60 gallery shows worldwide; created artwork for some of world’s biggest companies; and published several volumes of his work.
Since 2000, Kozik’s main artistic focus has been in the design and production of vinyl art toys. The icon of Kozik’s toy empire is his Smorkin’ Labbit character, but he is also the guy behind Chumps, Mongers and pretty much everything else that smorks.
To celebrate it’s 10th Anniversary, Upper Playground has teamed up with several artists to create vinyl figures commemorating the event. The first in the series, Alex Pardee has created the Walrus Rider, a two-faced creature, whose legs were stolen, seeking vengeance and searching for his legs atop his walrus associate. Alex Pardee is best known for his illustrations on various album covers, skateboard industries, comics, and distinct water color monsters. But among all his creations the Walrus Rider is his FIRST Toy! Produced by The Loyal Subjects

Posted above is a gorgeous 20" Rupture Dunny custom done by Doktor A for a very lucky private collector. Doktor A states that he'll only produce one of each design per platform, so sadly this will be the only 20" Rupture Dunny custom in existence... Unless of course you're the owner of this beautiful piece of art, which in that case makes it a really awesome deal. If you'd like to get a custom done by Doktor A, I suggest you contact him immediately because I hear there's a lengthy waiting period. For more info, please visit www.spookypop.com.
Earlier today Huck Gee released a set of10" Skullhead custom Mad*L's, and ten lucky followers of his twitter were able to snag one of these amazing customs when he made the surprise announcement. Sad to say that I wasn't one of the lucky ones... but this was such an awesome drop that I wanted to post it anyway. This set, which is now completely sold out, was an edition of 10 and each piece was priced at $400 plus shipping.

Cosmic Lily just gives us one more reason for buying and certainly, makes this series more interesting. My name is Abe Lincoln Jr. and I am a Graphic Artist living and working in Brooklyn NY. I'm working on the launch of a new series of Artist's Multiples called Fugue State Records.
Fugue State Records is a fictional "Extreme Music" record label. I will be using the form factor of the humble 7" record to release singles from the fictional Hardcore and Heavy Metal bands on the Fugue State label roster. These are NOT real 7" records with music on them, they are Design Objects meant to be displayed with the rest of your Art collection.
I will laser etching various materials to create the records and the sleeves will be digitally printed. Each release from Fugue State Records will be limited to no more that 10-50 pcs per colorway. Once a colorway is done it will not be released again.
In support of these releases I will also be doing other Artist Multiples such as band and label tshirts, gig posters, stickers & zines, all that will be released as the project continues.
My goal with the project is to create a world that has continuity. There will be multiple releases from the bands on the Fugue State label roster. New bands being signed and old bands moving on or breaking up. So the project is meant to be ongoing.
I plan on doing multiple art shows/record releases and putting out new Multiples regularly. So it will be just like following your favorite Punk Rock record label but its FINE ART!
The first release on Fugue State Records will be from Icelandic Black Metal band Asspanther. The first single will be their US debut and will feature the songs Eucharism b/w Religion is Mind Control. Their searing blastbeats and brutal vocals have made waves all over the the world. With little more than a cassette demo and a video tape of a live gig, they were signed to Fugue State Records no questions asked. Noted for their manic stage show and level of technical virtuosity, Asspanther is putting the Metal World on notice. Be sure to get your copy of this limited edition release that's sure to sell out fast! source:kickstarter.com www.girlsbike.com
