"Transcenders" is the next exhibition to be hosted by Gallery 1988 LA. The artist lineup consists of Doktor A, Jason D'Aquino, Michael Page, Scott Scheidly and Jason Limon. Although not much info has been provided about this event, it still looks to be extremely promising based on the artists involved. I'm really looking forward to what's gonna be unveiled at this showcase and hopefully Gallery 1988 will provide more info as this event draws near. Brooklyn based artist KAWS takes a trip to the west coast for his first ever solo exhibition in Los Angeles called "The Long Way Home", which will be hosted by the Honor Fraser Gallery. The man himself will be in attendance for the opening reception where you can expect to find vintage KAWS pieces as well as new works in the form of mixed media art, 3D sculptures and even designer toys(life-size Chum anyone?). This show opens on 02.21.09(6-8 p.m.) and runs through 04.04.09. If you plan on attending the opening reception, I suggest you try and get there early because spacing will definitely be limited for this event. [more info]

DKE Toys is proud to present "The Vader Project", hosted by The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. This project brings forth the aura of the lowbrow art movement as it meshes with the iconic Darth Vader helmet from the Star Wars series. DKE Toys curated this event which boasts an all star lineup of nearly 100 prestigious artists such as Ron English, Frank Kozik, Huck Gee, Usugrow and Cameron Tiede just to name a few(complete list). I was lucky enough to observe a few pieces first hand when The Vader Project showcased at SDCC in July 2007. Simply put, this is an event that you do not want to miss!
